CHARLES SINGLETON Obituary

Charles Joseph “CJ” Singleton, age 51, passed away on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in Aventura, Florida. “CJ” was born on September 1st, 1972, in Neptune Township, New Jersey, to the Late Joseph “Jack” Singleton and Charlie Mae “Charlotte” Singleton. 

When “CJ” was 3yrs. Old, he and his parents relocated to Sunny Florida where he began his education at Pine Villa Elementary and completed his primary education at Palmetto Senior High School, Home of the Panthers. While at Palmetto Senior High, “CJ” would excel in multiple sports such as Track, Wrestling and Football. He also enjoyed playing Baseball. He was a well sought after talent as an Offensive Lineman by many colleges, finally settling on Hampton University, in Virginia.  

In his freshman year of college, “CJ” had to return to Sunny Florida to attend to his ailing parents. Even though his dreams of continuing to play college football were paused, he continued his education at Miami-Dade College and Saint Leo University.  Simultaneously, resulting in an AA in Education. “CJ” also found his passion for coaching his two loves. Football and wrestling. He began his coaching career in wrestling, at Southwood Middle School and then expanded to Coral Reef Senior High as Head Wrestling Coach and a D-line coach for football. He followed these accomplishments with coaching at Hialeah Gardens High, Miami Palmetto High School and finally, Alonzo and Tracy Morning High School, where he would retire from. 

“CJ” was also a well-established Martial Artist. He was a high-ranking member of B.L.A.M and the FBBA. When he retired from karate, he was a 5th degree black belt in Jiu Jitsu with the title of “Shihan”. At the B.L.A.M. Dojo is where he met his future wife, Sabrina. 

On July 17th, 1999, “CJ” and Sabrina married. They would go on and have two wonderful children. Christopher Joshua Singleton and Chayla Joi Singleton. 

Mr. Charles “CJ” Singleton is survived by his wife, Sabrina B. Singleton, His loving children Christopher and Chayla Singleton. His Aunt Helen Lundy (Winston) and a host of relatives and friends.
