John and Dorett Henry Obituary

Dorett Miller, age 74, passed away at Jackson North in Miami, FL March 12, 2024. Dorett grew up in a loving home in Jamaica and aspired to move away and make a life for herself in America. Never venturing far from her culture, she moved to America and began nursing school trying to make a career for herself and her young daughter Lorna. Dorett loved baking and reading as her leisure hobbies. She loved her job as a nurse and made many strong and lasting friendships with people that treated her like family. She made enough to bring her daughter and grandchildren from Jamaica to give them opportunity at a better life in America. In her final years, she enjoyed reading to her great grandchildren and still loved baking and discovering new recipes.

John nicked named Teddy or Obeah, 70, passed away at Jackson North in Miami, FL January 9,2024. John grew up in a loving home in Jamaica with his brother and sister. He also moved to America seeking a better life and career when he met Dorett and decided to marry her and help her with her goals. Teddy was a baker at flowers in his younger years and kept on a construction work as he was always very handy. Teddy enjoyed gardening and hands on activities on his spare time. The neighbors would always catch him riding his bike and smoking a cigarette every evening as he was a person of routine.

Dorett and John loved their family and would make a point to tell them that they loved and appreciated them as often as possible, sometimes with a card, a text, but most frequently with a simple phone call. John was survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dorett was survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Both with many aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends; and church members who adored them. They both had a knack for making friends easily and were loved so much by everyone they crossed paths with.

Waiting for them at the Door to Heaven was Lorna their daughter.
