Peggy Lee was born on November 16, 1938, in Orangeburg, South Carolina to her parents Bessie and David Myers. She was the eldest of eight sisters and four brothers.
She was educated in the Orangeburg County school system. She relocated from South Carolina to Florida, settling in Miami where she completed her studies. She then met and married Otis Lee. They were married for 60 years until his demise.
Peggy was the matriarch to the family. She was a mother figure to many aways wearing a big smile and cherry spirit; known for her kind heart and loving ways. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She found joy in the simple yet meaningful moments in life cherishing every opportunity to spend time with her family, whom she loved deeply.
She was an active and dedicated member of AM Cohen Temple Church of God in Christ for over 50 years under the leadership of the late Bishop Jacob Cohen. She served on the Mother’s Board. She also was a missionary and member of the Eastern Star. She loved her church and was always a supporter as much as she could.
